I’m a writer and musician currently residing in northern New Mexico. I spent my youth in Denver, Colorado cutting my teeth writing songs and touring around the country before building my freelance writing career in my late twenties. What began as a way to write about the challenges of being a serious musician in the modern music industry quickly evolved into a passion as deep and vivid as my love for songwriting.
These days, I split my time evenly between music-making and writing. In my life as a writer, I specialize in writing personal essays, op-eds and long-form articles. My work has been featured in Variety magazine and large music industry publications like Platform And Stream and ASCAP’s Daily Brief.
As a songwriter and performer, I’ve shared the stage with artists like The Oh Hellos, Imagine Dragons, Sharon Van Etten and Minus The Bear, composed music for film, TV and podcasts and have written songs that have charted on radio stations like KCRW in Los Angeles. I currently make music under the name Straight White Teeth.
I pride myself on bringing unabashed enthusiasm to everything I do, whether it’s performing on stage or sharing a personal story through one of my essays. People are considered lucky to have a single passion in life, and I’ve somehow found two. I’m not quite sure how that happened, but I’m just going to run with it.
